Swedish Teleco TeliaSonera To Launch 4G Services

Swedish Telco, TeliaSonera has announced that it will launch 4G wireless service intially in Stockhlm, Sweden, Oslo and Norway and expand to 25 cities in Sweden and four in Norway by the end of 2010. The operator claims to provide speeds of up to 100 Mbps. (Read more at PC World)

Conflict Of Interest For 3G e-Auctioneer?

NM Rothschild (India), the e-auctioneer appointed for the 3G and WiMax auctions has been asked by DoT to furnish details about its link with  Rothschild (Malaysia). NM Rothschild is advising Aircel on potential buyers for its tower business. The conflict of interest is that Maxis Communications, Malaysia which holds a 74 percent stake in Aircel is also likely to bid in the 3G auction. (Read more at Business Standard)

Airtel DTH To Replace  WorldSpace With AIR Channels

Armed Forces Railway Warrants To Be Replaced By e-Ticketing

Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen PC Bhardwaj launched a pilot project of Rail e-ticketing for the Armed Forces. The project will initially be available at 20 locations across the country. Armed Forces personnels can book and print tickets through IRCTC website at these locations. The four phases of the project will gradually include Air Travel, Defence Civilians and TA.

IT/ ITeS & Financial Services Prepared For Information Security & Data Privacy Challenges

A Data Security Survey report released by the DIT states that IT/ ITeS and Financial services, are better prepared to address information security and data privacy challenges whereas manufacturers and PSUs seemed to lack behind. The report is based on a survey by Data Security Council of India (DSCI) through KPMG, in association with CERT-In. R. Chandrashekhar, Secretary,DIT also launched the India Security Portal that has been developed by DSCI under the same project.

BSNL To Launch 3G Services In Kerela And Andhra Pradesh

BSNL is launching 3G services in 21 cities across Kerela. The PSU has invested Rs 650 crore for the project in Kerala apart from expanding the existing 2G network to cover more than 95 per cent of the BSNL mobile phone subscribers. (Read more at expressindia.com)

RComm To Invest Rs 6300 Crore

Reliance Communications is planning to invest over Rs 6300 crore in its wireless and enterprise business under a plan internally called ‘Edge 2010’. According to article in the Business Standard, An additional Rs 4,400 crore cash and equivalent will take the total to Rs 10,700 crore which will also be used to fund the upcoming 3G auctions and upgrade its network. BSNL And MTNL To Procure 30 Percent Product Requirement From ITI

The Central Government has directed BSNL and MTNL to place 30 percent of their product orders with loss making government undertaking ITI. BSNL and MTNL will give a 70 percent advance payment for the orders placed with ITI. (Read more at Business Standard)

Zenith Computer promoted Vu Technologies has launched a large double format touchscreen based LCD PC that runs on Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium OS and works as a gaming console also. An LCD PC allows users to watch TV and browse the net also. iSuppli has forecast that the total number of internet enabled sets will grow to 88-90 million worldwide by 2013. Shemaroo Entertainment Releases 3D Animation Film

Shemaroo Entertainment has released a 3D animation film called ‘Pangaa Gang’. The film will be released in Hindi and later be dubbed into Tamil, Telegu and other languages depending on the demand. HCL Infosystems And Motorola To Set Up Government Radio Network For CWG 2010
HCL Infosystems in partnership with Motorola will set up a government radio network in Delhi ahead of the Commonwealth Games. The project is approximately worth Rs 100 crores. The communication network will called TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) will allow fast and secure communication among government bodies during the Games in October.
