Tata Teleservices continues to add more customers than any other telecom operator in the month of December: 17.46 percent of total additions of 19.10 million connections in December. The highlight for the month is, however, the stellar performance of two new entrants - S Tel and Uninor. Uninor launched in 7 circles simultaneously and then expanded services to Orissa within December. In one month, the telecom operator has amassed 1.21 million connections. S Tel had launched its services in Himachal Pradesh and in December itself reachd out to Assam and Orissa. Taking into consideration that it was operating only in 3 circles it has managed a commendable 141,411 connections. Wireless subscription reaches 525.15 million Wireline subscription declines to 37.06 million Overall Tele-density reaches 47.89% Broadband subscription is 7.83 million In December, there was a net addition of 19.10 million wireless connections taking the total number of wireless connections to 525.15 million by the end of the year. It should be kept in mind that these figures do not factor in churn and overlapping due to multiple SIMs, so the figures are connections and necessarily not customers. Broadband Total broadband connections have increased from 7.57 million in November to 7.83 million in December, showing a growth of 3.56 percent . Landline Wireline connections declined from 37.16 million in November to 37.06 million at the end of December. BSNL and MTNL hold 85.22% of the wireline market share but they lost 0.12 million subscribers in the month. Overall wireline teledensity is at just 3.16%.…
