Yatra & Lexulous On Yahoo India Homepage

Yahoo India has added Online Travel Agent Yatra and word game Lexulous to its home page. These are the first Indian add-ons that we’ve seen on the site, after it was redesigned in July, although the redesign was launched with partners Dainik Jagran already there. Some of our readers might remember Lexulous from the run-in they had with Hasbro. It’s interesting to note that though all the other tabs have a pop up when you move your mouse over it, Yatra does not. You have to click on it and then the site opens on the same tab.

The MobileStore Acquires X-Cite

Essar Group’s The MobileStore, has announced the acqusition of Impact Retail Pvt Ltd for an undisclosed amount. Impact Retail which is a franchisee of the Al Ghanim group from Kuwait, ran its business under the brand X-Cite. Essar will take over and rename all seven stores of X-Cite to The MobileStore.  (Read more at Business Standard)

ATC To Acquire Stake In Essar Infrastructure

American Tower Company is to buy controlling stake in Essar Infrastructure Private Ltd for $350-400 million and the deal is to be announced in January. In March, ATC had acquired the tower assets of XCEL Telecom for a consideration of Rs 800 crore. (Read more at Indiatimes)

FDI Not Likely To Increase To 49 Percent For News Channels

I&B Minister Ambika Soni has said in Parliament that the ministry is sensitive about too much foreign investment in print, electronic media or radio. The discussion was on increasing FDI in news and current affairs TV channels from 26 percent to 49 percent. (Read more atIndiantelevision.com)

DoT Has Asked Telecom Operators To Provide Information Within A Week

DoT has asked telecom operators Bharti AirtelIdea CellularVodafoneand Tata Teleservices to provide required information to the special auditors within a week. The auditors are checking for revenue leaks and under-declaring revenues as ordered by DoT. The report on Reliance Communications was submitted last month in which the operator hasallegedly under-declared Rs 1000-Rs 1500 crores in revenue in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Sulekha B2B.com Crosses 0.5 Million Registered Users In India.

SulekhaB2B.com last month crossed half a million registered members from India. This  B2B portal connects buyers and suppliers to trade globally. The company is also trying to venture into new markets like Europe, Middle East, and South East Asia.

Haribhoomi Website To Be Upgraded.

Haribhoomi, a Hindi daily, will launch its website by next month. Until now the website only had an e-paper online. A team of 10 people based in Rohtak and Raipur will work on and run the website. (Read more at afaqs!)

JetLite Launches New Online Booking Site

Jet Airways’ wholly owned subsidiary JetLite has lunched its new online booking engine. According to a report the automated CyberSource risk screening solution along with the 3D secure payment gateway as per RBI guidelines ensure transactions are secure.

Yash Raj Films Launch YRF TV

Yash Raj Films has launched a subsidiary television production company, YRF TV, that will make shows exclusively for Sony Entertainment Television. The subsidiary will start with 5 weekend shows, one fiction and four non-fiction in the new year. (Read more at Indiantelevision.com)

Salman Khan is blogging for the promotion of his new movie Veer. The film is slated to release next month, January 22, 2010. His latest post is titled “I have three different looks in Veer” and 239 people have commented on it. Sharaukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are regular bloggers too.

IDC Survey: Billion People To Access Internet Through Mobile Devices

IDC has released a survey report  which states that by 2013 almost a billion mobile devices will be accessing the internet. Close to 450 million users accessed the internet through mobile devices this year, the report said. A total of 1.6 billion people accessed the Internet this year, and the number could reach over 2.2 billion users in 2013. China had the largest number of Internet users, with 359 million this year.
