BBC Plans Online Platform & Channels For India; Eyes Mobile Chris Dobson, BBC Worldwide’s executive vice-president has said that, BBC is looking at creating new TV channels and launching an online platform with "content relevant for the region". He sees "tremendous opportunity" in the mobile space with soon to start 3G services and complementing high-end devices which will enhance the experience of the online content. (Read more atlivemint.com) Uninor Launches Service In Orissa Uninor anounced the launch of its GSM service in Orissa. The telcom operator now has a presence in 8 out of the 22 circles it has UAS license for. Uninor has launched its service in the state with two tariff plans, a base plan called talklonger@29p and a subscription plan called callmore@29p. The company launched services in 7 circles simultaneously earlier this month as part of their launch in India. The new version supporst 17 new languages, 12 of which are Indian and comes with an integrated dictionary. The tool now supports Arabic, Bengali, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu but Google transliteration IME still offers only 14 languages.
