rcomatonTelco Reliance Communications is on an m-commerce drive – it has begun with a strategic partnership with Mumbai-based Atom Technologies, a subsidiary of Financial Technologies group, and will soon be adding a series of m-commerce applications, according to Anil Pande, Head – Product, Mobile Data and Content services, Reliance Communications.

Services Offered By Atom

Atom has on board around 450 merchants including DTH providers and e-commerce sites and has tie ups with banks such as ICICI, HDFC, Citibank, Corporation Bank, IDBI Bank, SBI, Yes Bank and Axis Bank. RCOM users will be able to pay for insurance services, DTH recharges, movie tickets, books & periodicals, consumer goods, holiday packages as well as bus & train tickets through R-World.

RCOM expects this service to drive 30% of its m-commerce traffic volume on its GSM and CDMA networks. We have contacted the company to learn what applications are being launched and will update the post with details if and when we receive them.
