Nokia To Launch Financial Services

Nokia will soon launch ‘Nokia Money’ its financial and banking services in India. They are in talks with six banks for the same and plan to utilize its own network of 1.9 lakh  phone retailers and dealers who will act as banking correspondents. Nokia expects to launch its first Nokia Money service early next year. (Read more at The Economic Times)

Handygo Services For Fishermen

After partnering with the India Meteorological Department to provide farmers with meteorological inputs and details on sourcing bank loans as well as mandi rates through IVR and GPRS, VAS provider Handygo has launched advisory services for fishermen across the country. The service helps fishermen access relevant information on potential fishing zones, wind speed, wave height along with the weather suitable for fishing. Handygo has tied up with INCOIS (Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services) for all technical content support.  (Release)

Quasar Sets Up Blazar

LinkedIn Partners Twitter

LinkedIn and Twitter announced an integration: members can share status updates between their LinkedIn and Twitter accounts using a new tweet application in LinkedIn and the #in hashtag on Twitter.

IPL Theatrical Rights for Rs. 3.30 Bn

Dar Capital Group’s Entertainment and Sports Direct has been awarded the theatrical rights for the IPL  with the highest of Rs. 3.30 billion. The deal gives exclusive exhibition right in various public venue from 2010 to 2019. Idea Cellular Joins Last Minute Inventory (LMI)

Idea has followed suit of the likes of The Times of India,India Today, Discovery Channel among others by becoming of member of LMI. LMI had sales revenue of $ 2 million in the month of September, 2009. (Read more at Brand Republic’s Media)

Zain’s Profit Down 53 percent

Zain Telecom, a Kuwait based telco that government owned Indian operators BSNL and MTNL are investing in, has announced a drop of 53 percent in profit  for the third-quarter (calendar year) because of currency fluctuations and increased financing costs for its network expansion. Net income declined to 41.2 million dinars from 87.2 million dinars YOY.  (Read more at Bloomberg.com)

Dell To Launch Smartphone

Dell is all set to launch its Android based Mini 3 smart phones in emerging markets like China and Brazil. They have tied up with China Mobile and Claro in China and Brazil respectively for distribution of the smart phone.The Mini 3 will be available in late November on China Mobile and by the end of the year on Claro. Airfone India has introduced a new range of mobile handsets. The mobile phones have features such as dual sim, MP3 player & TF Card support in all models. Two models(Flip 29i & AF 31)are priced at Rs. 4999 and one model(AF 26) is priced at Rs. 2999.

Tata Docomo Add New Circles

Tata Docomo, has commercially launched its services in East and West Uttar Pradesh telecom circles. They also announced their 1 paisa pay per second tariff in the launch.(Release)
