Simultaneous Digital & Physical Launch Of Music For Blue

T-Series and Hungama will be releasing music for the film Blue on both digital and physical formats, including pen drives and microchips. In case of physical distribution by CDs, how difficult is it to convert music in to MP3 format anyway. Music companies should have begun simultaneous digital distribution a long time ago, particularly given the Caller Ringback Tones phenomenon.

A couple of questions come to mind:
— Do people download ringtones anymore, or is that industry dead?
— Are pen drives and memory cards (mobile) a form of physical distribution or digital distribution? Not both? Who owns those rights – T-Series or Hungama?

Mint’s Blogs Redesigned, Ported Onto WordPress

Mint’s blogs have a new address Blog.Livemint.com (from Blogs.Livemint.com). Okay, we are delighted to have caught the change to singular in the URL, but it has also been redesigned. It now looks like it has been cleanly separated from the Livemint.com news site, with the left navigation column absent. The new logo makes no mention of the association with Wall Street Journal, they have got rid of the awkward looking header Bl-o-gs.

Instead of a grid of all the blogs (such as First Cut, A Daily Download, Play Things, Lab Rats etc) greeting the reader on the landing page, blogs have been shuffled into three categories – news, leisure and opinion with a few posts beside the images. The site is now hosted on WordPress 2.8.4 (the latest version). It appears to be planning to add videos too. Posts on blogs begin from the left, making for easier reading. (via a tweet by Sruthijit)
