Almost two years after joining STAR India as VP (Mobile Entertainment), Anand Raman is moving on. Raman has confirmed to MediaNama that he will be joining the leadership team at Eko India Financial Services. Raman had taken over the mobile mandate at STAR India after Viren Popli, SVP and Head of Mobile Entertainment left to join Mumbai Mantra of the Mahindra Group earlier this year. Raman expects to join Eko sometime in August, and will move to Delhi from Mumbai. He said that his mandate will be essentially be product and marketing, but given that it's a startup, he may be involved with other aspects as well. Prior to joining STAR, Raman had been with Idea Cellular for 3.5 years. In the past, he has worked with Bharti Telesoft and Mahindra BT (now TechMahindra). Eko is a CGAP funded project which allows branchless banking. The service is essentially bank-led, and Eko has signed up as a business correspondent with SBI. The company has partnered with Bharti Airtel for network access, and essentially uses a retail network.
