Karaoke By Loop Mobile
Loop Mobile is offering a new value added service that lets its subscribers sing along with background music, record, replay and then get it delivered to a friend. Loop has set up an IVR at 54999 which charges Rs. 2 per minute for recording the song, but delivers it for free to any local mobile number. The recording appears as a call and not a message as the name of the service “Karaoke Messaging” indicates.
Our Take: Loop will most certainly have had to licensed the tunes…question is, who owns the rights to the karaoke “version copy”? Not like you’d like to pirate a copy of me singing, though.
YOU Telecom Inks Ties With Shemaroo
YOU Telecom announced its tie-up with Shemaroo to broadcast movies through digital cable. Shemaroo and YOU Telecom are working towards building a content library and offer it to users as a ‘pay per view’ model under the YOU Multiplex service brand. Customers can select a movie of their choice and buy it for a day. (Newswire)
Our Take: Maybe I haven’t noticed anyone else doing this before, but is this the first pay-per-view deal in the digital cable space in India? So far, we’ve seen DTH and IPTV offer pay-per-view movies.
