rajshrilogo11TV and film production house Rajshri Media has re-launched its video streaming portal Rajshri.com. The new website, still in Beta, has a whole new look – more glossy and attractive. From the vertical layout with content segments in columns on the left, Rajshri.com now has a more horizontal layout with content segments at eye-level and tabs such as Must See and Just In below the slideshow of trailers. Details of each video’s length, genre and ratings now appear when you slide your mouse over the thumbnails. We like the horizontal design much better for video. There are also videos on numerology, Baba Ramdev, FICCI Frames and CII besides a channel on BBC, which have all been pushed under a Specials tab.

Rajshri Media is also looking to attract advertisers for the new site – “You pay for only the number of visitors we actually send to your website. This offer is for small and big businesses alike and you can start with a budget as low as Rs. 5,000 (USD 100).” The new portal is part of Rajshri’s four pronged strategy to get back on track.

What they can do better: There are dedicated sections for Tamil and Marathi viewers but unfortunately not in local language font, which could have made the experience much better for users. At the same time, we like the fact that they’ve separately highlighted their language verticals. Here is a screenshot of the new site. Do note that the new design has not been launched yet – Rajshri.com still sports the previous design. 

Indian Express Turns Blue

Indian Express’ awaited redesign seems to be finally rolling out. Its striking red masthead and italisized font has given way to a blue, gold and white logo on its website. The newly revamped Indianexpress.com has more stories, more ads, and a bigger font – all on a soothing blue palette, in complete contrast with its previous look.  iejocThe paper’s editor and group CEO Shekhar Gupta said recently that the relaunch was not meant to be a cosmetic makeover but one that would showcase the strength of the paper. He also said that though the brand had been neglected, the paper’s focus on politics, power or the government is its strength and USP. More in his interview with Content Sutra: Part 1 and Part 2. The group site still retains the original logo.
