(By Preethi J & Nikhil Pahwa) Pubmatic has closed its second round of funding from Helion Ventures, Nexus India Capital and Draper Fisher Jurvetson participating, a company press release said. While the amount of funding has not been disclosed, we were wondering about how this impacts ad network Komli, which operates in India. Goel told us that this round of funding has been raised separately by Pubmatic, and the company was hived off from Komli in the second half of last year. Remember that when Komli had raised its first round in Jan 2008, there was some confusion about whether Komli and Pubmatic were the same company. Goel had said then that Pubmatic was a service from Komli. Pubmatic will use the money for international expansion, and both Komli and Pubmatic may operate in India at some point in time, though as separate companies. The undisclosed amount will be used to fund its global expansion plans. The ad revenue optimization firm claims to have 5500 publisher clients such as Technorati, Flixster and FreeForums.org. Last January, it had 1500 clients. The company also unveiled a new product - the Pubmatic Premier - which helps optimize online campaigns and increase revenue from online ad networks for large media houses.
