Varun Singh, CTO of Web18 is moving on to start his own company, reports ContentSutra. The buzz on Singh's move has been fairly strong - that he is leaving to start his own venture, and on being contacted by MediaNama, Singh told us that he has not put in his papers yet, and did not comment on plans for a move. Singh had joined Web18 from ITNation, where he was the Editor for TechTree (eventually acquired by UTV). He was appointed CTO of Web18 in 2007. One97 Communications has appointed Sanjay Singh as its CTO. Singh joins from Dilithium Networks, where he was MD for India, and had set up the companys India operations. Singh will operate out of One97s Noida Office and will oversee the companys technology and R&D functions. Singh has worked with BayPackets Technologies, Aplion Networks, RiverRun Software Group, among others. Sequoia Capital funded search engine Guruji.com has appointed Dhruv Shenoy as President. Shenoy will oversee Guruji’s overall business functions including Marketing, Distribution, Sales and Alliances. He joins from Monster, where he was Country Manager of their Middle East operations. A side note in the press release from Guruji - they had raised $8 million from Sandstone Capital last year. Last year, the companys co-founder Gaurav Mishra had quit, and investor Sumir Chadha had addressed some concerns here.
