Circlewise List of Access Services licences (as on 31-12-2008)
India offers essentially two types of licenses – CMTS (Cellular Mobile Technology Services) and UAS (Universal Access Service Provider). CMTS was introduced first, as primarily a GSM based service. For enabling the entry of CDMA operators, UAS licenses were issues, which allow telecom operators to provide multiple services in the country.
Apart from these licenses that are allocated to private operators, government owned BSNL and MTNL also have “basic licenses”. In all:
