Uber starts car rentals service UberHIRE in nine cities in India

  Cab-hailing service Uber has a new car rental service called UberHIRE which will allow users to hire a cab for up to 12 hours. UberHIRE will now be available in New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Vizag and Nagpur after a pilot in Kochi. Here's what the new service will offer: - UberHIRE will have the Maruti Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios, Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova as vehicles that consumers can hire. - The service will be available between 4 AM and 8 PM on all days of the week. - The company says that the new service will be limited to the city areas but riders will be allowed to travel up to 20 kms in a service area. - The minimum fare is Rs 500 which covers up to 2 hours or 30 kms. Following this, riders will be charged Rs 2 per minute and Rs 12 per kilometer. The cancellation charge is Rs 100. Uber's rival Ola launched  Ola Rentals which allows users to rent a car on hourly packages back in June 2016. Ola will charge a base fare of Rs 750 for 4 hours and a distance of 40 kms. Ola Rentals includes Toyota Etios, Tata Indigo and Maruti Swift Dzire, all cars under its Mini category. Other services launched: Last month, Uber was planning to launch UberEATS, its standalone on-demand meal delivery app in India.
