Bharti Airtel has appointed Raj Pudipeddi as Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Consumer Business for its India operations. Pudipeddi will assume his new role at Airtel from February 6, 2017 and he will part of the management board and report to Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO of Bharti Airtel (India). Pudipeddi will be responsible for driving market share, strengthening the brand and heading customer-centric projects. Earlier, Pudipeddi worked with Procter & Gamble (P&G) for more than 20 years across various business functions for its North American operations. In his previous role, Pudipeddi held the role of vice-president for P&G’s Oral Care operations (North America). Prior to this, he was the general manager for P&G’s Latin America operations and managed multiple teams across various categories. Pudipeddi is an engineering graduate from Andhra University and completed his MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. Recent appointments at Airtel The telco made several hires and promotions for its South Asia and Africa operations after it recently acquired the disputed 5% stake held by Africa’s Econet Wireless taking its overall stake in Airtel Nigeria up to 83.25%. The company also merged its operations with Bangladesh’s Robi Axiata after received regulatory and legal approvals in November last year. Last week, the company appointed Micromax’s Badal Bagri as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its India & South Asia operations including Bangladesh. In addition to this, the telco appointed Telenor’s Rajeev Sethi as the Chief Commercial Officer for its Africa operations.
