New media revenue continues to grow for Bollywood aggregation and production company Shemaroo. The company posted a new media revenue of Rs. 23.95 crores for the quarter ending September 2016 (Q2FY17), up 51.5% Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) from Rs. 15.80 crores for the same period last year (Q2FY16). Overall, the net profit after tax was at Rs. 15.18 crores, up 35.6% Year-on-Year (Y-o-Y) from Rs. 11.20 crores for the same period last year (Q2FY16) with PAT margins at 13.3% in Q2FY17 as compared to 11.9% in Q2FY16. Founded in 1962, Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd claims to be active in content ownership, creation, aggregation and distribution with a content library of over 2800 titles. The company distributes content for satellite channels, physical formats and digital technologies like mobile, Internet, broadband, IPTV and DTH, among others. Digital business highlights: Shemaroo's YouTube Channel, Filmi Gaane crossed 1 billion views during the quarter ending September 2016 (Q2FY17). During Q1FY17, the channel had crossed 1 million subscribers. It is worth noting that Shemaroo has a network of 75 channels on YouTube with a cumulative subscriber base of 8,145,336 subscribers. In May, Shemaroo had crossed 1 billion views on its YouTube channel and has also registered more than 1.5 million subscribers on the channel. The company renewed its partnership deal with music streaming website, Saavn. The company's Punjabi & Gujarati regional language services launched with Airtel Digital TV in July 2016.
