Shailesh Rao quits as Twitter VP AsiaPac, LatAM and Emerging Markets

Shailesh Rao, VP - Asia Pacific, Latin America & Emerging Markets at Twitter has quit the company. Rao will be leaving Twitter by the end of July, he said in a tweet. Rao had joined Twitter from Google four and half years ago, in April 2012, where he had been the Managing Director for (media & platforms) for Google Asia Pacific, before which he had been the MD for Google India. Rao had been with Google for around 10 years. After 4+ yrs growing the Intl business at @twitter, it’s time for new challenges. Around through July, then off to plot the next chapter! — Shailesh Rao (@shaileshrao) July 4, 2016 Under Rao's his watch, Twitter established operations in India: his former Google colleague Rishi Jaitley joined Twitter in November 2012 to set up an India team. Twitter now has an Ad sales, policy and government, sports and media relations functions specific for India. In the past, Rao has also worked with Yodlee and AOL.
