LeEco ropes in Shrinivas Bairi, Manish Aggarwal & Divya Dixit
Chinese internet company LeEco has hired Shrinivas Bairi as senior director of R&D, Manish Aggarwal as Vice President of Marketing Communications for its Smart Electronics Business and Divya Dixit as Director, reports the Economic Times. Bairi comes from Qualcomm where he was Director-Engineering and has worked at the chipmaker for nearly 17 years, while Aggarwal comes from Myntra where he was Vice President Marketing and Head of Monetisation. Dixit comes from Percept Live where she was the Marketing Head. Note that last month, Debashish Ghosh, the CEO of Zee Digital Convergence, resigned from his position to be the new COO at LeEco’s India company.
Jana Messerschmidt & Nathan Hubbard to quit Twitter
Twitter executives Jana Messerschmidt, the head of business development and Nathan Hubbard, head of media and commerce, are planning to leave the company, reports Re/code. Twitter will reportedly promote Ali Jafari, it’s VP in charge of running the Amplify video advertising business, to take over media and business development as well. Jafari is expected to lead the 3 separate divisions as one unified unit. Twitter has lost several top executives this year. Alex Roetter, Twitter’s SVP of engineering, Brian Schipper, head of human resources, Katie Stanton, VP of global media and Kevin Weil, SVP of Products, quit the company in January this year. At the time, Vine head Jason Toff had also quit to join Google.
COAI appoints Gopal Vittal as Chairman; Sunil Sood as Vice Chairman
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has appointed Gopal Vittal, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (India & South Asia) of Bharti Airtel, as the Chairman of the organization for 2016-17, reports the Economic Times. Sunil Sood, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Vodafone India has been elected as the Vice Chairman. Note that just last month the COAI asked the TRAI to scrap its Net Neutrality regulation to “allow differential data tariffs on the basis of content irrespective of whether such content is provided through the closed network or open internet.” This letter followed (and refrences) a request from Bharti Airtel earlier the same month, where Airtel sought permission from the TRAI regarding offering content from a big global content provider, exclusively to Airtel customers.
Nasscom’s DSCI ropes in Rama Vedashree is CEO
Nasscom’s data protection wind the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) has appointed Rama Vedashree as the new CEO, reports the Economic Times. Vedashree replaces the previous CEO Nandkumar Saravade. Vedashree was previously the Vice President at Nasscom and was responsible for all initiatives regarding domestic IT, eGovernance and smart cities etc. She also led the healthcare initiative NatHealth in partnership with Apex Health Sector body. She has over 25 years of experience in technology fields and has previously worked at companies like NIIT Technologies, Microsoft and General Electric (GE) India.
Myntra appoints Manpreet Ratia to head HR & new initiatives
Online fashion portal Myntra has hired Manpreet Ratia to head HR and new initiatives, reports Economic Times. Prior to Amazon, Ratia was with Citibank for over 7 years as the Managing Direct and Asia COO for Citi Treasury and Trade business based in Hong Kong. He also has over 8 years of experience in various leadership roles at GE where he was in HR, Six Sigma and Business Development. Other than this, he has also worked in companies like Nestle India and Oberoi Hotels.
