TinyOwl shutters operations everywhere but Mumbai; to keep user data

Mumbai based online food delivery app TinyOwl has shut down its food delivery operations in all its cities except some areas of Mumbai, where it will continue delivering food through its app. The company sent its users a “service update”, which was visible in Pune as well. Previously, according to the company, it delivered in Ahmedabad, Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Jaipur, Nagpur, Bangalore, Lucknow, Navi Mumbai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Mumbai. We’ve written to TinyOwl for further information and will update this if we hear from them. TinyOwl's co-founder Harshvardhan Mandad spoke with MediaNama about it's plans with Roadrunnr and the delivery business. Read it here. MediaNama tried accessing the app through multiple locations in Hyderabad, Nagpur, Pune, Gurgaon and Bangalore, all of which carried “Temporarily closed for service improvement” messages. It’s “service update” message in the app said that the company is working on “improving its delivery experience” but is “committed to return” with a better product in the “near future”. TinyOwl states that it will hold on to user data like addresses, debit/credit cards etc. but does not say if users can sign into the account using these details in the future, if the occasion arises. The merge with Roadrunnr? Earlier this month, we wrote about the possibility of TinyOwl merging with Roadrunnr, a logistics startup, and launching a consumer facing product called Runnr, which could also possibly offer bike-taxi services.
