Reliance Jio SIM are now offered to the public on an invite-only basis: Report

Reliance Jio, the telecom operator with pan-India 4G spectrum, has started opening its operations to the public on an invite-only basis. Reliance Jio has distributed the invites through its employees. Each employee gets 10 invites to share with the public. The development was first reported by Phone Radar. A Reliance Jio spokesperson, on being contacted by MediaNama, declined to confirm or deny the development. Currently, Jio is offering unlimited Internet at 4G speeds on these SIMs for three months. The offer also gives access to all Jio applications and credits worth Rs 15,000  in Jio Money. In addition it offers 9,000 SMS for free. Phone Radar adds that the SIM users get will only work on LYF handsets. The report adds that once and invite is sent out, users have to print a copy of the email with the offer code on it. They can claim the SIM at a Reliance Digital store along with their proof of identity and address. The invite status can be viewed on employee.jio.com. Note, international calling and roaming is disabled on these SIMs. Reliance Jio missed commercial operation launch in March this year. Number of connections active Earlier Jio revealed that  500,000 employees had been onboarded on the network. The operator launched full scale 4G service offerings for the Reliance Industries group employees, partners, vendors and associates on a trial basis on 28th December 2015. Jio’s employees have consumed over 18 GB of data in a month on an average, it added.
