JustDial new app

Directory services company JustDial will be adding more than 4,000 employees to handle sales for the company over the next 9-10 months, CEO and founder VSS Mani revealed in a call with analysts. JustDial’s revenues remained under pressure over the last two quarters as the company did not make adequate staffing for its sales team.

The company reported revenues of Rs 171.33 crore at the end of the quarter ended December 2015, compared to revenues of Rs 171.27 crore in the preceding quarter. Employee base decreased to 10,198 employees. In the preceding quarter, JustDial’s employee count was at 10,611.

“As we had reiterated in the Q2 the issues on the topline growth which has come down from earlier year to be 11% is essentially due to the decrease in the overall volumes, which has been impacted by the lack of scaling up of the sales force,” Mani said. “We should see adding about 2000 to 2500 in the sales force particularly in the feet-on-street over the next nine, ten months and also we are going to be adding telesales – the 2000 – 2500 people includes the telesales,” he added.

JustDial to spend Rs 100 crore on advertising

Answering a query, CFO Ramkumar K said that JustDial will be spending Rs 100 crore on advertising over the next 3-4 quarters. Mani added that the spends will be primarily on television with 75% being spent on television ads and 25% spent on digital ads.

JustDial Omni

In August 2015, JustDial said it would be launching  JustDial Omni to help small business manage their online and offline sales. Mani said that the product will be launched on February 25 on the call. Mani also elaborated that Omni will help small businesses and shops get their own website complete with a payment gateway. “In 10 minutes a person can get going with his own website fully in the sense enabled with payment gateway, he can start using it as a POS system, if it is got a retail outlet,” Mani explained.

Mani also said that by getting customers on the Omni platform, JustDial Marketplace will get the complete inventory of the store. “What I am trying to say is if we have people on board for JD Omni we have access to their inventory instantly and JD marketplace gets enriched,” he explained.  JustDial Omni is currently on a trial basis with two dozen shops all over India.
