McGraw Hill & Edutor to offer digitised textbooks for higher education

McGraw Hill Education India (MHE) has tied up with Edutor Technologies’ IGNITOR, which provides tablets with educational content, to provide MHE’s Education book catalog in a digital format and distribute across universities and colleges. IGNITOR will digitise over 5,000 titles from MHE across 40 streams including engineering, management, medicine, science, arts and commerce for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The digital textbooks will also be enhanced with inbuilt audio and videos and allow students to annotate, highlight and take notes. Teachers will be given support resources which can add Q&A sessions, graphic representations of concepts and presentations. MHE states that the solution has already been implemented at SRM University, IIM Kozhikode, Great Lakes Institute of Management, VIT University and Thiagaraja School of Management. Both the companies aim to have 1,000 educational institutes on their platform. Edutor Technologies, which was launched in 2010, claims that over 80,000 students have used its IGNITOR platform across K12, higher education and test preparation material. McGraw Hill’s previous digital course platform: Way back in 2012, Vriti, an e-learning company (which shut down in 2014), had partnered with then Tata McGraw Hill Education to launch free, online ‘smart courses’ for engineering and management subjects on Android tablet devices.
