Online classifieds site Quikr has launched QuikrServices, a vertical which will focus on the unorganised sector of service providers in the country, to provide access to buying, rental and leasing across home, travel, financial, health, fitness, beauty and events services, reports BusinessWire. Quikr states that services had become a large category on Quikr, and aims to bridge local offline home services and their online demand.
QuikrServices will provide location based results which will include verified listings, service provider call back and info on customer needs to match their requirements. It is also piloting a feature where a user and the service provider can conference through a free and anonymous call, on demand services with a preset price list and a “needs” dashboard to manage conversations with service providers.
Quick review: The service could use some polish since after typing my city and area, clicking on “search” did not return any results. Likewise, clicking on a category also did not open that category, instead needing to click on a sub-category under the heading.
The company had roped in P. D. Sundar to head QuikrServices in April. Sundar would be responsible for verticalizing Quikr’s services marketplace, as well as marketing and revenue generation in this category. Earlier this month, the company made a strategic investment in AN Virtual Tech, to deepen its operations in the verticals it offered. AN Virtual Tech and WoNoBo, the street-view and mapping portal share a parent in Genesys International, which works as a GIS outsourcing company globally.
Quikr Homes: Last month, Quikr launched a real estate focussed portal called Quikrhomes, 6 months after it was originally slated to launch. In April, Quikr had said that the value of real estate related transactions was worth 50% of all the transactions on its platform.
Quikr Cars: In August, the company launched QuikrCars where users could search for and buy new and used cars, bikes and other vehicles like trucks by budget. The vertical showed listings of sellers, popular cars near you, reviews and videos and was available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Gujarati.
Quikr Jobs: In the same month, Quikr launched a dedicated job search section that allowed users to search for full-time, part time, freelancing and other employment-related opportunities.
In April, the company raised $150 million from investors Tiger Global and AB Kinnevik and new investor Steadview Capital to invest in its mobile business and strengthen its hold in categories like goods, cars, real estate, jobs and services. Out of this, $40.55 million came from AB Kinnevik.
