Porting requests were submitted for 3.98 million connections in the month of July 2015, according to the Indian Telecom regulator TRAI. This is up 8.23% from 3.67 million porting requests reported in June 2015. India had a total mobile connection base of 983.20 million connections (885 million active) as of July 2015.
For the month of July, the maximum number of requests in Zone-I (North and West India) were received in Rajasthan at 0.28 million, followed by Maharashtra at 0.26 million and Mumbai at 0.24 million. Jammu & Kashmir which has one of the lowest user base, continues to receive the lowest number of porting requests at 1,747. Note that TRAI does not provide any operator-wise breakdown for these number porting requests.
In Zone-II (South and East India), Karnataka continues to lead with 0.48 million number porting requests till date, followed by Andhra Pradesh which received 0.45 million requests and Madhya Pradesh which received 0.29 million requests. North East circle saw 8,340 number porting requests for the month, down from 8,744 requests in the previous month.
