Online real estate services portal PropTiger’s co-founder Prashan Agarwal has decided to quit the company and pursue other entrepreneurial opportunities. It’s not clear when exactly this comes into effect. The company has also made several additions to the senior leadership team.
Former CEO of Karvy Private Wealth Sunil Mishra has been appointed as the Chief Business Officer. Mishra’s LinkedIn profile informs that he had joined PropTiger in April this year. In his new role, Mishra will be responsible for PropTiger’s new homes business, including business development and sales & collections, and will be based at the company’s Mumbai office. At Karvy Private Wealth, the wealth management business of the Karvy Group, Mishra played an important role in building the company’s wealth management and real estate brokering businesses. Prior to Karvy, Mishra served as the Head of Marketing (Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa) for Bharti Airtel for about 2 years, and National Head (Revenue Enhancement) at Reliance Communications for about a year and a half. He has also worked at UK-based private equity firm WorldTel and at KPMG Consulting.
PropTiger has also appointed former Director of HR at UTi Worldwide Rohit Hasteer as the Chief Human Resources Officer. Hasteer will be responsible for all aspects of PropTiger’s human resources, including talent acquisition and leadership development, and will be based at the company’s headquarters in Noida. Prior to UTi, Hasteer served as the Head of HR and Training at MakeMyTrip.com for over 5 years. He has also had stints at Aviva India Life Insurance and Citifiancial.
The third and final appointment is that of former Head of Marketing at India Today group Neeraj Chaturvedi as the Chief Marketing Officer. Interestingly, Chaturvedi’s LinkedIn profile says that he joined PropTiger back in February. Chaturvedi has been tasked with building the company’s brand and leveraging its new acquisitions. He’ll also be based at the Noida office. Chaturvedi was the Head of Brand Solutions at HT Media, before he had joined the India Today Group. He has also worked at HT Media’s radio station Fever 104 FM.
Last month, PropTiger had acquired real estate classifieds portal Makaan.com, though Makaan.com will continue operating as an independent entity as of now. Following the deal, Makaan.com CEO Aditya Verma was expected to start reporting to PropTiger co-founder & CEO Dhruv Agarwala.
This acquisition came on the back of PropTiger acquiring user interface design firm Out of Box Interaction, earlier in April. At the time, PropTiger had mentioned that this acquisition will allow it to improve the user interface of its website and to display real estate projects in a more immersive way.
Previously, in November last year, News Corp had picked 25% stake in PropTiger parent Elara Technologies Pte Ltd for $30 million. As part of this investment, News Corp Senior Vice President (Strategy) Raju Narisetti joined Elara’s Singapore-based board.
