Porting requests were submitted for 3.83 million connections in the month of March 2015, according to the Indian Telecom regulator TRAI. This is up 10.69% from 3.46 million porting requests reported in February 2015.India had a total mobile connection base of 969.89 million connections (862 million active) as of March 2015. India doesn't yet have number portability across service areas, the deadline for which has been extended to July 2015. For the month of March, the maximum number of requests in Zone-I (North and West India) were received in Maharashtra at 0.37 million, followed by Gujarat at 0.27 million and Rajasthan at 0.26 million. Jammu & Kashmir which has one of the lowest user base, continues to receive the lowest number of porting requests at 1501. Note that TRAI does not provide any operator-wise breakdown for these number porting requests. In Zone-II (South and East India), Karnataka continues to lead with 0.47 million number porting requests till date, followed by Madhya Pradesh which received 0.45 million requests and Andhra Pradesh which received 0.38 million requests. North East circle saw 4,339 number porting requests for the month, down from 4,827 requests in the previous month. Download: TRAI Press Release
