Travel forum HolidayIQ has acquired the mobile development team (travel vertical) of California based web and mobile development company SourceN to strengthen its mobile capabilities. The company did not disclose the financials of the deal. HolidayIQ, however, mentioned that it will make other investments to enhance its mobile capabilities. The company told Medianama that the travel mobile team of 7 people is Bangalore based and will help HolidayIQ boost its iOS app. It specified that the newly acquired team’s specialisation lay in developing iOS travel apps and before the acqui-hire, the team was developing apps for both Indian and US clients. SourceN built and developed mobile apps for iOS, Android and Windows other than offering PHP and web development, claiming to have had customers in Apple, Dell, SAP, Conde Nast and CampusDiaries among others. They also claim to have made mobile apps for companies including Cleartrip, TaxiForSure, Jabong and TravelMob. HolidayIQ claims that over 65% of their user activity is through mobile devices (April 2015). The company said that the acquisition will help it create an engine for seamless sharing of travel reviews, ratings, images and video on mobile. It claims to have over 3 million users across 80 cities in India and lists over 2,000 tourism destinations with 50,000 accommodation options. It has partners in MakeMyTrip, Yatra, Expedia, Thomas Cook and SOTC among others. HolidayIQ was founded by Hari Nair in 2004.
