Snapdeal CTO Amitabh Misra quits

Snapdeal Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Senior Vice President-Engineering Amitabh Misra has resigned after about 3-and-a-half years with the e-commerce marketplace and is expected to walk down the entrepreneurial path, reports The Economic Times. Misra is expected to leave at the end of this month. Prior to Snapdeal, Misra served as the Senior Engineering Manager at Sunnyvale, California based CashEdge. He has also had stints at VeriSign, Wells Fargo Bank, ProactiveNet Inc, USWest Communications and Infosys. Misra did his BTech from IIT Kanpur and followed it up with an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He has over 15 years of experience across domains such as networking layers, application servers, technology databases, service oriented architecture and security protocol among others. This news comes a day after Snapdeal roped in former Yahoo India R&D Division and Amazon India executive Jeyandran Venugopal. Venugopal is expected to initially serve an advisory role with Snapdeal's technology leadership team. In December last year, Snapdeal had appointed former Nokia UK Global Director Vishal Chadha as its VP of Market Development. Chadha is responsible for signing up businesses and merchants on Snapdeal’s website, along with business development and seller marketing.
