MTNL losses down 12.4% to Rs 730.83 Cr in Q3-FY15

State run telco MTNL has reported yet another quarter of losses: Rs 730.83 crores loss for the quarter ended December 31, 2014, however it was down 12.4% from Rs 834.22 crore loss in the previous quarter. The same quarter last year however, MTNL reported a profit of Rs 428.03 crores, on account of writing off BWA spectrum payment worth Rs 1,404.9 crore. The total operational revenue for the telco stood at Rs 816.92 crores for the quarter, down 4% from Rs 850.72 crores last quarter and 4.3% from Rs 853.39 crores the corresponding quarter last year. Basic services: Revenues from Basic (Fixed line) services continue to dominate MTNL’s revenues, with the segment reporting revenues of Rs 639.20 crores for the quarter, down 4.5% from Rs 669.34 crores last quarter and down 4.1% from 667.03 crores same quarter last year. The loss before tax from basic services stood at 268.83 crores for the quarter, down 15.3% from Rs 317.4 crores last quarter and down 65.1% from Rs 771.37 crores the corresponding quarter last year. Cellular Services: Revenues from Cellular services declined further this quarter to Rs 180.87 crores, down 2.5% from 185.53 crores in the previous quarter and down 5% from Rs 190.53 crores in the corresponding quarter last year. The loss before tax for cellular services declined as well to Rs 103.23 crores for the quarter, down 44.35% from Rs 185.5 crores in the previous quarter and down 11.3% from Rs 116.38 crores in the corresponding quarter last year.
