The top three telecom operators in India - Vodafone, Airtel and Idea Cellular - added 6.49 million active connections in December 2014, accounting for 64% of active connections, and 55% of total active connections added. Their growth is outpacing the rest, as, together, they accounted for more active connections during the month (55%) than all the telecom operators combined, since some of the rest (Loop, BSNL and RCOM) lost connections. Reliance Communications (RCOM), contributed very little to net additions, with only 0.36 million active connections added during the month. It still forms a significant part of the top four telecom operators, who together account for 76% of India’s active mobile connection base.
