Mumbai-based online events stationery platform Inksedge has secured $1.5 million in seed funding from New Enterprise Associates (NEA), with participation from Pinnacle Ventures, Milliways Ventures & angel investors like Vuclip founder & CEO Nickhil Jakatdar, Gokul Rajaram, Mark Perry and Anil Kamath, reports Techcircle. The funds will be used for customer acquisition & marketing, hiring technology professionals, improving Inksedge’s technology platform & for launching new products. Inksedge was launched by Rohini Chakravarthy, who is also a partner at the VC firm NEA, in October this year. The platform allows users to order cards across occasions & events like Christmas & New Year, Party, Birth Announcements, Diwali and Baby Shower Announcements. Users can select cards based on size, format (flat or folded), colours and more. Users also have the option of personalising the design. Inksedge will be competing with the online stores of established greeting card companies like Archies & Hallmark. Amazon India also has a Gift Cards section that allows users to select cards across occasions like birthday, wedding & engagement, anniversary, and house warming among others. ALIVE wedding card invitations: Earlier this year, Times Internet’s augmented reality app ALIVE had launched ALIVE Wedding Cards, which let users create interactive wedding card invitations. Users can add details like venue locator using Google Maps & wedding date reminder, as well as multimedia content like background music & templates to the wedding card.
