Virender Bisht appointed as MobiKwik CTO

Online recharge and mobile wallet service provider MobiKwik has appointed Virender Bisht as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In this role, Bisht will be responsible for product research and development, user experience design (specifically for MobiKwik’s mobile wallet), and tech infrastructure. Prior to this, Bisht served as the VP and Director of Technology Development at MakeMyTrip.com in separate stints. Before this, he has also served as the Director of Engineering at Educomp and Studyplaces.com. Bisht has also worked at TribalFusion, Exponential, TCS, and GE Healthcare. He has over 14 years of experience working in domains like mobile apps, online payments, content management and enterprise software. Earlier this year, MobiKwik had integrated its mobile wallet, which was launched in September last year, into e-commerce websites such as eBay and Nykaa and added a cashback feature for transactions made via its wallet on these sites. Previously, MobiKwik co-founder Bipin Preet Singh had told Medianama that users were using its wallet service mostly for recurring transactions like mobile recharge, bill payments, travel and bus tickets. Customers can store up to Rs 50,000 in the wallet at a time and use it to purchase goods and services on third-party merchant websites and mobile applications.
