The Cellular Operators Association of India (which includes most of India’s GSM telecom operators and has recently added Facebook and Reliance Jio as members), has reported an addition of 6.28 million GSM connections in October 2014, closing in at 762.3 million connections, a 0.83% increase from 756 million connections in the previous month. GSM operator and circle-wise data (excluding Reliance and Tata): - Airtel added 1.85 million connections in October, taking its connection base to 213.41 million. - Idea Cellular added 1.85 million connections in October, taking its connection base to 145.41 million. - Vodafone added 1.01 million connections in October, taking its connection base to 174.86 million. - Among metro circles, Mumbai added 254,782 GSM connections, with Delhi adding 84,974 GSM connections. Note that no information has been provided about the active users, which we’ll probably get once the telecom regulator TRAI releases data for the entire industry.
