State run telco MTNL has reported yet another quarter of losses: Rs 834.22 crore loss for the quarter ended September 30, 2014, up 13.8% from Rs 733.2 crore loss in the previous quarter but down 11.9% from Rs 947.1 crore loss in the same quarter last year. The total operational revenue for MTNL also dipped to Rs 850.7 crore for the quarter, from Rs 856.02 crore in the previous quarter but up 4.6% from Rs 813.45 crore in the same quarter last year. Basic Services: Revenues from Basic (Fixed line) services continues to dominate MTNL's revenues, with the segment reporting revenues of Rs 669.3 crore for the quarter, down from Rs 670.5 crore in the previous quarter but up from Rs 640.82 crore in the same quarter last year. The loss before tax was nearly flat at Rs 317.4 crore for the quarter, from Rs 318.3 crore loss in the previous quarter but an improvement from Rs 499.6 crore loss in the same quarter last year. Basic services contributed for 78.7% of MTNL’s net income for the quarter, as compared to 78% contribution in the previous quarter. Cellular Services: Revenues from Cellular services declined to Rs 185.5 crore for the quarter, down 1.9% from Rs 189.1 crore in the previous quarter but up 3.8% from Rs 178.7 crore in the same quarter last year. The loss before tax increased to Rs 119.7 crore for the quarter, from Rs 111.3 crore loss in the previous quarter but improved from Rs 122.3 crore in the same quarter last year.
