Cisco and the engineering services arm of Larsen & Toubro, L&T Technology Services have tied-up to set up an Internet of Everything (IoE) solutions centre in India, targeting the transport and mass transit industries. This solutions centre is expected to be located within the L&T Technology Services facility in Bangalore. The companies claimed that the centre will focus on both technical and business aspects of connected transportation. They also claimed that solutions for connected stations and connected railway infrastructure, smart video surveillance systems, etc will also be focus areas. While the railway segment will be the core focus area during the initial phase, the collaboration is expected to later expand to segments such as manufacturing, defense, consumer packaged goods (CPG) and the off-highway transport. Cisco, ELCIA tie-up: In July this year, Cisco had signed a strategic agreement with Electronics City Industries Association (ELCIA) to set up an Internet of Things (IoT) Innovation Hub in Bangalore. This was part of its Cisco Smart+Connected Communities initiative, and the company had claimed it would provide the network infrastructure and expertise for testing and production of electronic product prototypes for an “IoT-enabled smart city environment”. Cisco recently unveiled a model ‘smart city’ in Bangalore, which the company claims will act as a blueprint for other smart cities in the country.
