The Cellular Operators Association of India (which includes most of India’s GSM telecom operators and has recently added Facebook and Reliance Jio as members), has reported an addition of 5.54 million GSM connections in August 2014, closing in at 749.9 million connections, a 0.74% increase from 744.4 million connections in the previous month.

GSM operator and circle-wise data (excluding Reliance and Tata):

Coai telco August 2014

– Idea Cellular added 1.72 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 141.84 million.
– Vodafone added 1.22 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 172.49 million.

Coai circles August 2014

– Among metro circles, Delhi added 327,534 GSM connections, with Mumbai adding 199,078 GSM connections.

Note that no information has been provided about the active users, which we’ll probably get once the telecom regulator TRAI releases data for the entire industry.
