Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone and Mi Pad tablet will launch in India by the end of 2014, according to Xiaomi vice president of international Hugo Barra. He confirmed this development while replying to reader comments to a BGR India report. He added that both devices are at present undergoing certification. He also revealed that the Redmi 1S smartphone, which was part of the India launch last month, will be available for purchase within the next few weeks. In fact, Barra expects to make an announcement regarding this by the end of this week. Barra also expects the Redmi Note phablet to be made available to Indian consumers before Diwali. Redmi 1S is priced at Rs.6999 and the Redmi Note is priced at Rs.9999. Apparently, Xiaomi is currently in the process of finalising certain logistical details. Xiaomi has received criticism for being unable to ensure sufficient stocks of its flagship Mi 3 smartphone are made available to Flipkart. The e-commerce major is conducting flash sales on behalf of the Chinese company. Xiaomi launched Mi 3 in India last month. Over 350,000 people have pre-registered to purchase the Mi 3, but so far a little over 35,000 units have been put up for sale in three batches. In his reply to the BGR India reader’s comment, Barra also mentioned that the Redmi Note model that will be initially launched in India is the 3G version. He added that the 4G model unveiled in China has been built specifically for China’s TDD-LTE network.…
