Price comparison site BearShop has shut shop after two years of operations. A notice up on its website, while not explicitly giving a reason for shutting down, it appears the founders have developed a new service called BugClipper, which they say they developed while trying to solve their own problem of reporting bugs while developing Bearshop. BugClipper is a service which allows companies to capture screen shots, highlight issues & record screen activity with just one tap, and report bugs to their own development teams. The service, which is paid, is available in a price range of $15-99 per month, and appears to operate in the same space as Little Eye Labs, which was acquired by Facebook last month. However, while Little Eye Labs was in the performance testing space, BugClipper tried to make reporting bugs for apps easier. Also, Little Eye Labs focused on Android, while BugClipper currently focuses on iOS, and its website says it plans to expand its mandate to Android. Given the ups-and-downs of the e-commerce ecosystem last year, and the glut of price comparison sites, it was always going to be difficult for BearShop, despite having an intuitive and very useful interface. We'd reviewed it here, and I particularly liked the pricing trends feature. Other players in this space include MySmartPrice, which recently raised funding from Helion and Accel, Network18 backed CompareIndia, FindYogi, Buyt.in, CompareRaja, PriceDekho, ShoppingWish.in, and BuyingIQ.
