LINE, the Japan based Online messaging and calling application company has appointed named Damandeep Singh Soni as its Head of India Business Development. Soni will be joining the company starting February 1st 2014, and will focus on developing partnerships and unique offerings for the Indian market. LINE reported that it had touched "15 million users by December", which appears to indicate the number of users from India that had signed up for the service. In November last year, Line announced that it had 300 million users. However, what's not clear is how many users are active on Line from India every month. Whatsapp had 36 million active users in India last month. WeChat doesn't disclose its active user base in India. LINE is in its early stages of growth in India, and we guess the Soni's role as of now will be to push more on customer acquisition, and then focus on customer retention. According to the LINE press release, Soni had co-founded PK Online Ventures (Percept Knorigin Online), and had also been the Head of ad network AdChakra. * Vuclip has appointed Apurva Desai as its new CFO. Desai will oversee global accounting, financial planning and analysis, legal, human resources and other operational support functions at Vuclip. Desai brings more than 15 years of operational and financial experience, and prior to joining Vuclip, was VP Finance at Exponential Interactive, a global provider of advertising intelligence and digital media solutions to brand advertisers. In the past, he has worked with Glu Mobile,…
