OneBreath, Ecozen Solutions and Artoo have received equity investments (pdf) from social enterprise incubator Villgro, but the terms of the deals were not disclosed. Co-founded by A VijaySimha, Matthew Callaghan and Bryan Loomas, OneBreath is a medical device company that is working on a low-cost mechanical ventilator to improve acute ICU care for patients across all communities. According to the company its portable ventilator provides the functionality and performance of current market leaders, while improving reliability and ease of use. It needs to be pointed out that the company was expecting funding from Omidyar Network earlier this year and Villgro received grants from Omidyar earlier this year. Co-founded by founded by Sameer Segal and Indus Chadha, Artoo has developed an Android and web-based platform that allows financial institutions to take all field processes online and track their business with real-time input. Its platform intends to make these institutions more accessible and affordable to the end customer. As a next phase of growth, Artoo is exploring international expansion of its financial inclusion product as well as expansion into primary healthcare and rural distribution. Ecozen Solutions, founded by IIT Kharagpur alumni Devendra Gupta, Prateek Singhal and Vivek Pandey, is a renewable energy company that is focusing on the applications of distributed power generation for agriculture and rural communities. Since 2001, Villgro has incubated 94 social enterprises including companies such as Windmill Health, SustainTech, UTMT, BioSense, Promethean Power, Uniphone, Desicrew, I-Wac, Aroghyam, Skymet among others.
