IGN India Goes Live

Times Internet has launched the Indian edition of gaming and entertainment website IGN that is owned by US digital media company Ziff Davis. The Indian edition is being headed by Avinash Bali and currently has a small team as of now with plans to hire freelancers when the need arises.  Other websites that were licensed by Times Internet such as Gizmodo India, Lifehacker India and Business Insider have a special page that lists all stories created by the Indian team. Bali said in the comments section that IGN India will also have a separate section with all the content created by the Indian team once they have significant number of stories. The Indian edition will take AAA game reviews from its US couterpart and will focus more on coverage of gaming news and events in the country, apart from writing about comics, movies, technology. However it is not clear if the Indian site will be covering Bollywood movies or if they will stick to regular Hollywood coverage. While speaking to MCV India, Ziff Davis business development director Adam Doree said that they will be looking to come up with Indian edition of its video shows such as Daily Fix. Doree also said that India is one of the biggest regions in terms of traffic for the website and IGN Middle East that was launched 18 months back, only caught up with India recently in terms of traffic despite having both English and Arabic content.
