Porting requests were submitted for 2.03 million connections in the month of June 2013, according to the Indian Telecom regulator TRAI. This is a 10.99% increase from 1.83 million porting requests reported in May 2013. The TRAI has released data by circle, but in all fairness, it is important for the regulator to also release MNP information by telecom operator, the number of complaints registered against telecom operators now allowing users to port out, and look into instances of telcos not allowing users to port out. Here's one example we came across on Twitter: @BizOdyssey not if they reject the request. For the month of June, the maximum number of requests in Zone-I (North and West India) were received in Rajasthan at 0.27 million. Jammu & Kashmir registered the lowest number of requests at 489 but that is quite expected, considering that it has one of the lowest user base. In Zone-II (South and East India), Karnataka leads, with 0.20 million customers requesting for number porting till date, followed by Andhra Pradesh, which received 0.19 million requests. There were just 2,615 requests from the North East circle. Note that TRAI has not provided any operator wise breakdown for these number porting requests.
