Graphic India Launches Mahabharata Web Series On YouTube

Graphic story telling company Graphic India has started an animated web-series called 18 Days, that is a reinvention of the Mahabharatha by Grant Morrison , the comic creator and writer of Batman. The series has been launched as part of YouTube's Global Geek Week with subsequent episodes to be released every week for the rest of the year on Graphic India YouTube channel.  The series will be available online in English, Hindi and Tamil. Speaking to Medianama, Sharad Devarajan, CEO of Graphic India said that the web series is being used as spring board for a new interpretation of the Mahabharatha to reach the top of the market, similar to Greek myths. 18 Days will not be an authentic story-telling, instead it would be a sci-fi and futuristic view of the Indian epic in digital media, Devarajan adds. When the writer is the writer of Batman, there will be millions of Morrison's fans who also become audience for 18 Days from around the world, explains Devarajan. Why a web-series? The company sees web series on YouTube as just one way of reaching out to its audiences. It also intends to create different touch points for different audiences around the world including physical print, digital web-series on web and also explore the possibilities of an animated TV series, digital interactive game or video app, among others.
