Vodafone India Q1-FY14: 3.7M 3G, 41.2M Data Subs, Data Revenue Up 48.2% YoY

Vodafone India has reported data revenue of £123 million for the quarter ending June 30, 2013 (Q1-FY14), up 14.95% from £107 million data revenues in the previous quarter and up 48.19% from £83 million data revenues in the same quarter last year. The data numbers: - 41.2 million total data customers, up 10.5% from 37.3 million customers last quarter. - 3.7 million 3G customers, up 12.1% from 3.3 million 3G customers last quarter. - 37.5 million 2G customers, up 10.3% million from 34 million 2G customers last quarter. - Data now contributes to 11.3% of the company’s total service revenues in Q1-FY14. - Data usage increased to 16,978.26 TB (Terabytes) for the quarter, up 26% from 13,466.83 TB. The company however informed that the data usage increased by 29% quarter on quarter, due to an increased number of data customers and increased usage per customer, particularly among 3G customers. Vodafone defines data users as subscribers who have consumed greater than zero KB data on its GPRS or 3G networks. Change in Revenue Split: Starting April 1, 2013, Vodafone has stopped providing revenue split between its voice, messaging and data revenues and has started providing a clubbed service revenue split in form of mobile in-bundle, mobile out-of-bundle and mobile incoming revenue. The company however does provide data revenues separately in the spreadsheet. Mobile In-bundle revenue represents revenues from bundles that include a specific number of minutes, messages and megabytes of data for no additional charge while mobile out of bundle revenue represents revenues generated from additional minutes,…
