It looks like Titan Industries has launched an e-commerce store at Titan.co.in (Thanks for the anonymous tip, whoever you are). We are not sure as to when the store went live on the Titan website, since we weren’t able to find any official announcement from the company regarding this.
When we checked, we noticed that the site offers products like jewelry, watches, eyewear and accessories like sunglasses, backpacks, wallets, bags and belts among others from its in-house brands like Tanishq, Sonata, Fastrack, Zoya and Titan Eye+.
The company features these brands in a sliding horizontal carousel and users can click on any brand of their preference to view products from that specific brand. Alternatively, users can also click on any product category in the navigation bar or select a brand in the drop down menu to browse through the respective products. Titan says that the site offers the same products that are available in its retail stores.
In the product listing page, the site offers various filters depending on the chosen product. For instance, it offers filters like product type, gold karatage, occasion and jewelry collection in the jewelry category while it offers filters like brands, gender, watch style, function and strap type in the watches section. There is also a price slider in each category, which allows users to filter products to a specific price range.
One can click on any specific product to view more details, browse through product reviews & ratings and purchase them. One can purchase products without registering at the site, however registered users get additional features like shipment tracking and wish list feature among others.
Payment & Shipping: As of now, the payment modes include credit cards, debit cards and net banking. It doesn’t seem to offer Cash on Delivery option at the moment. The site offers free shipping and claims to deliver to select cities in India in 5-7 business days.
Tanishq Store Merged, What About Fastrack? Its worth noting that Tanishq and Fastrack already had dedicated online shops through which it offered respective products to customers. However, it looks like Titan has now merged the Tanishq website to the current site, with the Tanishq website redirecting to the Tanishq section on the Titan website.
We wonder if Fastrack will also follow suit, although Fastrack site is still live at the time of writing this article. It would make sense for the company to bring all its brands under a single online store.
Offline Retailers Foraying To E-Commerce
Over the past year, we have noticed that several popular offline retailers have launched their own e-commerce stores:
– Jewelry major Gitanjali Group has partnered with Times Internet’s* Indiatimes Shopping to launch an online brand shop Gitanjalishop.com in December 2012. Times Internet had also partnered with the handset maker Nokia and Home appliances major Godrej to launch dedicated online shops for these brands.
– Sennheiser India had launched an online store in June 2012.
– Footwear brand Liberty Group launched its online shop Liberty Shoes Online in April 2012.
Besides this, Bata India had launched its online store Bata.in earlier this year. Fast food brand Dominos India also has an online store Dominos.co.in and an Android app. Infibeam’s DIY e-commerce platform BuildaBazaar also has clients like VIP, The Mobile Store and Crossword among others.
