Serendipity Infolabs Pvt. Limited, which runs an online cab booking site TaxiForSure.com, now allows one to book its taxi over a Tweet. The company says one just has to send a tweet to TaxiForsure's Twitter handle @taxiforsure along with hashtag #TweetATaxi. For example: @taxiforsure need a taxi from JP Nagar to Airport at 5:30pm #TweetATaxi. TaxiForSure will then reach out to the customer to book their taxi through Twitter. Update: One needs to send a direct message to them to confirm the booking. The company claims that booking done over tweet will also provide customers with incentives and deals, however, it's not clear whether the company plans to receive bookings via Twitter even after the campaign ends. This is an interesting addition as it doesn't require the company to invest in additional infrastructure for receiving bookings. However, when we sent out a tweet for a taxi booking, we didn't receive a reply even after 15 minutes. Bookings over social media will work only if the response time from the company is quick. Why would anyone book over Twitter if they do not receive a quick response? The idea here is to provide an booking option that's simple enough instead of going through the hassles of online booking. However, no response or delayed responses defeats the purpose. Update: TaxiForSure reached out to our tweet in 15 minutes, however, we still feel that the response time could have been better.
