Gaurav Shrinagesh has been appointed CEO of Penguin Random House India as a part of the global appointments announced by the company following the merger of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA and Pearson to formally establish the venture, Penguin Random House headquartered in New York City. Prior to this appointment, Shrinagesh has been the CEO of Random House India since 2008. Penguin-Random House Merger: Following the merger, Bertelsmann owns 53% and Pearson 47% of the company. The company states that Penguin Random House will combine adult and children’s fiction and nonfiction print and digital trade book publishing businesses of Penguin and Random House in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and India. The company also states that Random House’s German-language publishing group, Verlagsgruppe Random House, will remain part of Bertelsmann and continue to report to Markus Dohle. As part of the new global team, Markus Dohle, Chairman and CEO of Random House worldwide since 2008 has been appointed as the CEO, Penguin Random House, and John Makinson, head of the Penguin Group worldwide since 2002, has been appointed as the Chairman of Penguin Random House.
