North India's Hindi news daily, Amar Ujala, has launched best deals app for local merchants and customers in Agra. The deals can be accessed through their website deals.amarujala.com or through their Android app available for download from the Google Play Store. It appears that the company has partnered with Uahoy for the deals and discounts. While the press release says that app is available on Smartphone platforms such as Android, Apple's iOS, Blackberry, Windows (phone), and Java, when we checked the app was available only on Android operating system. Update: The Amar Ujala deals app is available on Apple's iOS, Windows Phone, Android and J2ME phones. The platform allows merchants to offer deals on food & beverages, beauty & spa, entertainment, electronics, automobile, nightlife, gifts, among others. While registering on the deal site, the website asked us the city we would like to get deals from, however, while using the app the deals platform doesn't seem to display deals from the area we selected on the app. It appears that while the website only lists deals in Agra, it plans to expand its operations to other cities such as Amritsar, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Gurgaon, among others. Update: Amar Ujala has informed MediaNama that if the city has deals, it will get displayed as the first choice; followed by other deals across other cities.
