Star India, Viacom 18, Network 18, & Zee To Discontinue TAM Media Services: Live Blog

June 11, 2013: The Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) has come out in support of TAM and stated that it is not a good step for broadcasters to discontinue TAM's ratings service (via Indian Television.com) June 10, 2013: TAM Media CEO LV Krishnan has said that he is open to another conversation with broadcasters and is open to pulling out the people meters from LC1 markets and deploying them elsewhere where they are needed. (via IndianTelevision.com) June 9, 2013: Star India, Viacom18, Network18, and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd will be discontinuing the services of Kantar Media & A.C.Nielsen's JV, TAM Media Research that provides TV ratings in India, according to a report by IndianTelevision.com. Star India has about 30-odd channels, while Viacom18 runs Colors, MTV, VH1, Network18 runs CNBC, IBN7, CNNIBN, IBN Lokmat and Zee Entertainment Enterprises LTd runs Zee TV and more than 30 other channels. The report also states that Sony Entertainment Television Network, the Times TV Network and NDTV had discontinued the services of TAM, last week and all the six networks together account for 70-75 per cent of the Rs 14,000-odd annual Indian TV advertising spend. It appears that the broadcasting networks are not happy with TAM's rating systems anymore. Speaking to the publication, L.V.Krishnan, CEO of TAM Research Media said that TAM would continue to measure viewership with funding from Kantar Media and A.C. Nielsen.
