Browser company Opera has inked a deal with the telecom operator Tata DOCOMO to offer a co-branded version of its mobile browser Opera Mini to Tata DOCOMO subscribers in India. Subscribers can just head to m.opera.com from their mobile browser to download this browser. While Opera hasn't disclosed any specific details on this partnership, the screenshots provided by the company suggests that Opera has just included links to services from Tata DOCOMO in its Smart Pages and Speed Dial on the co-branded browser. It also seems to have included links to Games, MP3 and International Music section in the speed dial, however we are not sure if that is also a part of the deal. Why Not Extend Co-Branding Deal To Include Web Pass? Co-branding browser deals aren't new for Opera, since it already has similar partnerships with Airtel, Idea, MTS India, and Vodafone India. However we feel that Opera should have also inked a Opera Web Pass deal with Tata DOCOMO as it could have been more useful to both, telcos and users. Telcos will get increased data consumption from a greater number of data customers while users will be more willing to opt for time limited data plans, due to lesser data costs In February 2013, Opera had partnered with Bharti Airtel to launch Opera Web Pass for Airtel customers in India.
